Deciding to explore the city, one of Kevin’s first stops is Radio City Music Hall, where he takes pictures of this famous music venue with his Polaroid camera. Radio City Music Hall is easily one of the most legendary Home Alone 2 filming locations in NYC where Kevin is running around sightseeing. After losing sight of his family and boarding the wrong flight, Kevin gets introduced to Home Alone 2 filming locations in NYC via LaGuardia Airport—kicking off the rest of the movie and story.
Hughes conceived Home Alone while on vacation, with Warner Bros. being originally intended to finance and distribute the film. However, the sign is obviously changed, and the store is now known as Good Fortune Gifts. Another stop Kevin makes during the montage is at Quong Yuen Shing & Company, a small store in Chinatown where Kevin acquires some fireworks. This is actually a historic building, as it was Chinatown's longest continuously operating store, having opened back in 1891. Unfortunately, the store was heavily hit by 9/11 and suffered a significant loss of business, and the owner was forced to close the store in 2003. Also known as the 59th Street Bridge, the Queensboro was completed in 1909 and connects Queens with the Upper East Side. Due to its status as a historic bridge, the Queensboro Bridge hasn't really been worked on, at least not in an aesthetic sense.
While certainly not a great movie, it's still better than 4 and 5 thanks to its cinema-level budget. Though a bit dull and done before, it was at least made with quality kid humor in mind. And, despite its mixed critical reviews, Home Alone 3 was actually a success at the box office , bringing in a decent $79 million globally. Kevin walks around the city and passes by Radio City Music Hall.

Any time I’m walking by that house, I see someone out in front, taking pictures.” As you can imagine, traffic picks up during the Christmas season when the movie takes place. Senta Moses, who played Tracy, recalled in 2020 that one of the most difficult scenes to shoot was the family's run through O'Hare International Airport to catch their flight. "There were thousands of extras, all expertly choreographed so none of us would be in danger running at full speed through the American Airlines terminal", she told The Hollywood Reporter.
This is a famous and beloved part of NYC and is still standing today, with many tourists and residents alike attending performances here. Right now, people can attend the show called "Christmas Spectacular Starring The Radio City Rockettes." Later on we see Kevin hiding in the attic at Carnegie Hall along with another character he meets throughout the movie . Carnegie Hall is a concert venue situated in the centre of Manhattan.

GettyCentral Park is a large park that spans over 843 acres, and it is situated between the Upper East and Upper West sides of Manhattan. There are several spots to visit within the park that were key locations in the movie. There’s the Bethesda Fountain at Bethesda Terrace at 72nd Street. There’s also the Historic Wollman Rink where the criminals go ice skating.
When the family accidentally oversleeps, they rush to the airport, only to be sure Kevin is with them. At the airport, Kevin loses pace with his family while holding Peter's bag. Kevin follows a man with an identical coat to Peter's and accidentally boards a flight to New York City. Upon arriving, Kevin decides to tour the city and in Central Park, Kevin is frightened by a stern-looking homeless woman tending to pigeons. He then goes to the Plaza Hotel and uses Peter's credit card to check in.

Insider interviewed director Chris Columbus, who explained that ‘ bullied his way into the movie’. He had created some stipulations for the productions to adhere to, one of which was letting him have a cameo. " 'Home Alone' is the Charles' post-Christmas gift for kids, parents and hipsters". For one sequence, the movie becomes a cat-and-mouse cartoon and a lampoon of home-invasion thrillers. "There is no holiday without "Home Alone". When and where to watch the cult movie?".
The New York hospital depicted in the film is another one of Home Alone’s New York locations that is fictional, but it was shot at a real Harlem building. In Central Park, Kevin finally meets with the woman referred to as “Pigeon Lady” that the story has been building up as a potential villain. To both Kevin’s surprise as well as the viewer’s, the lady isn’t a villain at all.
Also, this is one of the last freestanding diners in all of NY, making it a part of the city’s history. If NYC is too far for you, there is a virtual tour on their website. Home Alone was first released by Fox Video on VHS and LaserDisc in the United States on August 22, 1991, their first video to go direct to sell-through rather than to the video rental market first. It sold 11 million copies, generating Fox revenue of $150 million making it, along with E.T.
Kevin starts to miss his family and asks the local Santa Claus impersonator if he could bring his family back for Christmas. He goes to church and watches a choir perform, and encounters Marley, who proves the rumors about him are false. Marley points out his granddaughter in the choir, and mentions he has never met her since she is the daughter of his estranged son. Kate realizes mid-flight that Kevin was left behind, and upon arrival in Paris, the family discovers that all flights for the next two days are booked, and that the phone lines are still down back home in Chicago. Peter and the rest of the family stay in his brother's apartment in Paris, while Kate manages to get a flight back to Scranton, Pennsylvania. She attempts to find a flight to Chicago, but all the flights are booked.
In the newspaper, he finds an ad for “Duncan’s Toy Chest” and the two hatch a plan to rob the store on Christmas Eve. This is also where Marv snatches a scarf and earmuffs off fellow skaters. At the Miami airport, security tells Kevin's parents it's unlikely he'll be anywhere but still stuck in Chicago. The camera pans to the South Street Seaport's erstwhile Fulton Fish Market . A backpack-toting Kevin crosses the street; meanwhile a white truck makes a turn, honks at him, and rolls up the back to reveal Harry and Marv. They're recently out of prison and stowing away with a shipment of seafood on ice.
After he took the assistant director by the collar one day to complain about this, daily call times were moved back from 7 to 9 a.m. On the other end of the schedule, the crew had limited time to film the many nighttime scenes, since Culkin could not work any later than 10 p.m. Home Alone 2 opened with $31.1 million from 2,222 theaters, averaging $14,008 per site. It broke the short-lived record set one week earlier by Bram Stoker's Dracula for having the largest November opening weekend. The film went on to hold this record until 1994 when it was taken by Interview with the Vampire.
